ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting William Smith broke open a close game by scoring four of the last five goals to take a non-conference women's lacrosse game over Nazareth, 11-6.

The victory boosted the Herons' record to 2-0, while Nazareth dropped to 1-3.

Nazareth used a three-goal flurry within a three-minute stretch of the second half to close within 7-5 with plenty of time remaining, but William Smith goals by Ellie Burns and Rachel Yackel interrupted the string. Robinson and Addilys Geitner each scored twice for Nazareth. Emily Allen and Regan McGwin also scored. Goalie Brianna Rizzari had 17 saves.

The Herons took the lead early with three goals, but Nazareth countered with with goals by Geitner and Robinson to draw within 3-2. Three more Heron goals made it 6-2 at the half and another by Payton McMahon just 34 seconds into the second half made it 7-2.

Nazareth's three-goal flurry started with McGwin's goal with 21:23 to go. Allen scored off an assist from Geitner at 18:59 and Geitner scored her second goal of the game just 21 seconds after that.

William Smith had a 40-18 edge in shots and a 12-7 advantage in draw controls. Vicki Arena had five of Nazareth's draws and Dylann Hogan had four ground balls.
