ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Zachary Gillard recorded two of his team-leading 13 kills near the end of the third set to force extra play for the Nazareth College men's volleyball team but it was not enough as St. John Fisher recovered to win the third set and the match in straight sets Wednesday night in a United Volleyball Conference (UVC) match at Fisher.

The Cardinals (12-3 overall, 1-0 UVC) won by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 30-28.

Gillard's consecutive kills gave Nazareth (8-6, 1-1) a 24-23 lead late in the third set but St. John Fisher rallied and extended the set before winning 30-28 to cap the match.

Gillard led the Golden Flyers with his 13 kills and sophomore Antonio Sargent added 10 kills. Senior Tyler Farnung handed out 35 assists, junior Luis Vazquez had nine digs and junior Sean Dillon served a pair of aces to pace Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers return home over the weekend to take on Stevens at 4 p.m. Saturday and NYU at 2 p.m. Sunday.
