ROCHESTER, NY – Six players had at least four kills each for a balanced attack from the Nazareth College women's volleyball team Saturday afternoon but the Golden Flyers dropped a 3-0 decision to New York University in the final match of the New York Regional Challenge at RIT.
NYU (24-6) won in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-19.
Senior Melissa Newcomb led Nazareth (12-17) with six kills and 11 digs while fellow senior Danielle Synowski added five kills and five digs. Freshman Kaylee Kelly, junior Julia Cavanaugh, junior Jessica Barry and senior Delaney Martin each recorded four kills for the Golden Flyers.
Barry handed out 30 assists while she and Kelly had six digs each. Sophomore Olivia Quick had five digs and two aces.
The Golden Flyers will play next in the Empire 8 Tournament as the No. 3 seed with a 7:30 pm matchup with No. 2 seed Houghton Friday, November 8 at St. John Fisher.
