WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Three days after suffering its first defeat of the season, Nazareth's women's hockey team was back to its dominating self Friday as the Golden Flyer subdued host Wilkes, 7-0, at the Toyota Sportsplex.

Nazareth outshot Wilkes 51-6 to improve to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference action. Wilkes dropped to 0-3.

Sophomore Nikolle Van Stralen betted her first two goals of the season and added an assist and freshman Olivia Miller-Johnson scored her first career goal for the Golden Flyers. Maria Di Cresce, Abbey Luth, Hailey Redders and Keeley Rose also scored.

Nazareth had 19 shots in the first period, but only two got past Wilkes goaltender Ally Joly, who finished with 44 saves overall. Van Stralen and Redders scored two minutes apart. Miller-Johnson and Gabriella DeMeo assisted on Van Strelen's goal at 9:15. Then Mikaila Rubin set up Redders for her sixth goal of the season at 11:23.

The Golden Flyers broke the game open with four more goals in the second period, including a power play score for Rose midway through the period. Two minutes before that, Miller-Johnson scored for the first time with assists from Van Stralen and Kyla Thompson. Earlier in the period, Di Cresce scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Cristina Darby and Luth followed with her fourth goal two minutes later.

Nazareth added one more goal in the third period as Van Stralen converted on the power play with assists from Thompson and Delaney Carle.

Sophomore Adrianna Brehm was in goal and made six routine saves to gain her second shutout of the season and ninth of her career.

The Golden Flyers play again Saturday at King's College at 5 p.m.
