OBERLIN, Ohio -- Nazareth's men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Ohio Saturday to compete at the Inrer-Region Rumble at Oberlin. The Golden Flyers finished 25th in the 6-kilometer women's race and were buoyed by personal-best performances from their top five finishers.
Nazareth scored 712 points to run 25th in the 32-team field. Host Oberlin was first with 104 points, followed by Bates with 112 and John Carroll with 142.

Deirdre Brett shaved nearly 30 seconds off her previous best 6k time as she finished in 119th place with a time of 23:44.3. Sophomore
Claire Bargabos was next for Nazareth in 145th place (24:09.8) and was followed by freshman
Megan Morin in 156th place (24:18.2); sophomore
Erin Reyner in 170th place (24:30.5) and junior
Kelly Artini in 206th place (25:05.0).
Other Nazareth competitors were freshman
Alexis Anagnostopulos in 238th place (26:04.0), junior
Kaitlyn Dobbertin in 240th place (26:09.4), junior
Hannah Hullihen in 249th place (26:29.8) and freshman
Emily Weaver in 268th place (27:33.5).
In the men's 8-kilometer race, Nazareth finished in 34th place with 912 points. Berea scored 75 to finish first, followed by Otterbein (109) and Case Western (125).
Freshman Nathan McNally was Nazareth's top finisher in 148th place with a time of 26:44.4. Junior Christopher Celecki was next in 194th place (27:10.4), followed closely by freshman Nathan Bowers in 198th place (27:14.0) and sophomore Josh Tomaka in 206th place (27:17.8).
Junior Michael Brown also competed and finished in 233rd place (27:37.9) along with freshman Lucas Sharron in 284th place (28:36.3) and sophomore Josh Pomerleau in 319th place (29:57.8).
Saturday's race served as a final tune-up for the Empire 8 Conference Championship meet, scheduled for Nov. 2 at St. John Fisher.
