UTICA, NY – Junior Jake Adams scored the only goal of the game as the Nazareth College men's soccer team scored a 1-0 victory over Utica College Saturday night at Gaetano Stadium in Utica.
After a scoreless first half Nazareth (10-2-1 overall, 3-0-0 E8) finally cracked the scoreboard as Adams scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season to give the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead. The goal ended up being his third game-winning goal of the year.
The Nazareth offense kept the pressure on with a 9-1 shots advantage over the final 45 minutes and senior goalkeeper Brian Wilkin was credited with the shutout but did not get credit for a save.
Adams had three shots in the game and senior Dereck France led the team with four shots. Nazareth held a 14-4 edge in shots, 7-0 lead in shots on goal and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
The victory extended the current win streak to six games and the unbeaten streak to seven contests. The Golden Flyers have allowed just one goal in the last four games.
Nazareth continues Empire 8 play Saturday at St. John Fisher.
