Box | Updated stats
ROCHESTER, NY -- The Nazareth College women's hockey team allowed a season-low five shots on goal and turned back Lebanon Valley by a second consecutive 3-0 score Saturday afternoon in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.

The Nazareth (14-3-1 overall, 10-3 UCHC) coupled with the Stevenson loss at Utica clinched a playoff spot for the Golden Flyers. Nazareth secured a spot among the top six teams in the UCHC.

Only three games this season have seen fewer shots on goal as two had just four shots and Oswego held Wilkes to just three shots in late October to start the season.

On Saturday, Lebanon Valley (4-14-0 overall, 1-13 UCHC) had a pair of shots – including one from outside the blue line – in the first two minutes of the game and then did not have another shot until midway through the third period. The Dutchmen were held without a shot in the second period.

Kyla Thompson scored an unassisted goal 6:41 into the game to open the scoring and Mikaila Rubin added her eighth goal of the season less than eight minutes later as Nazareth took a 2-0 lead. Hailey Redders recorded her team-leading 17th assist and Lauren Jones also assisted on the play.

After a scoreless second period with Nazareth holding a 23-0 shots advantage, Taylor Hudon capped the scoring with her 12th goal of the season five minutes into the final period. Emily Kromer and Keeley Rose assisted on the play.

Nazareth fired 58 shots on goal and won for the third consecutive game and fourth in the last five games. The Golden Flyers will make up the second game of the Utica series at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.
