AURORA, N.Y. -- Junior Francesco Viavattene scored the game-winning goal with less than 15 minutes left in regulation Wednesday as Nazareth defeated host Wells in a non-conference men's soccer match, 2-1. Nazareth improved to 2-1 overall, while Wells dropped to 0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Coming off the bench, Viavattene netted his second career goal in the 77th minute as he collected a long pass and eluded a Wells defender before striking a shot from 20 yards away.
  • Nazareth took an early 1-0 lead as freshman Glenn Ramos intercepted a pass from the Wells keeper and delivered his first career goal in the seventh minute of action.
  • Ramos' goal stood up until the 61st minute when Wells' Christian Garavito scored his second goal off an assist from Adam Whitaker.

  • Junior goalie Brian Wilkin, the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, played all 90 minutes in goal and had one save.
