BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Junior Jennifer Hilts scored the only goal of the game with 1:16 left in the first overtime period Wednesday to lift visiting Nazareth to a 1-0 field hockey victory over Brockport in non-conference action. Nazareth improved to 2-1 overall, while Brockport dropped to 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After 70 minutes of scoreless play in regulation, the teams resorted to overtime, where the Golden Flyers dominated by outshooting Brockport 6-0.
  • The winning goal came after a penalty corner taken by Emily Prescott. Her pass settled on the stick of Hilts, who blasted a shot past Brockport goalie Adriana DeDie.
  • Nazareth dominated the action with a 25-10 advantage in shots and a 13-3 edge in penalty corners.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Senior goalie Kimber Nourse picked up the shutout with three saves in nearly 79 minutes of action.
  • Hilts had seven of Nazareth's shots, including five on goal.
  • DeDie had 11 saves for Brockport, including four in overtime.

QUICK FACTS
  • Hilts' goal was her second of the season and 15th of her career.
  • The shutout win was the first solo shutout of Nourse's career. Last week, she combined with freshman Amanda Chuttey in a shutout win over Morrisville.
  • Nazareth has a 13-15 record all-time against Brockport as the teams have played at least once every year since 1995. Nazareth also defeated the Golden Eagles 6-1 last season and has won four of the last five meetings.
  • The victory was Nazareth's first overtime win since a 4-3 win at Hartwick on Oct. 20, 2012. Current assistant coach Cathy Stahl scored the game-winner in that game.
