ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth used a six-goal scoring burst midway through the second half Tuesday to pull past RIT in a non-conference women's lacrosse match, 17-15, on the Golden Flyers' artificial turf field.

Addilys Geitner contributed three goals and two assists as the Golden Flyers improved to 10-5 overall. RIT, a competitor of the Liberty League, dropped to 7-9. Nazareth closes out its regular-season schedule Saturday with an Empire 8 Conference game at Hartwick at 1 p.m. Nazareth has won three straight and seven of eight.
Carroll, Collins, DeVona and Geitner each scored twice in the first half as Nazareth secured an 8-7 halftime lead. RIT scored two of the first three goals of the second half to tie the score at 9-9. Then Nazareth scored the next six goals to secure control for good. First Geitner broke the tie by scoring off an assist from DeVona with 17:42 left. Then Carroll scored unassisted just 44 seconds later. DeVona scored the next two goals just 42 seconds apart with Carroll assisting on the first goal and Geitner on the second.
Just 38 seconds after that, Collins scored off a pass from
Lily Aldrich. Carroll completed the run with an unassisted score with 9:35 left to give Nazareth a 15-9 lead.
The Tigers hung tough, however, by scoring four straight goals of their own to close within 15-13 with 5:14 left. Carroll's fifth goal of the game off a pass from Geitner with 4:19 left interrupted the string. Then DeVona added an unassisted tally with 2:00 left to close out the Nazareth scoring.
DeVona had two assists in addition to her five goals and collected eight draw controls. Junior
Brianna Rizzari enjoyed another stellar game in goal by recording 16 saves, her ninth double-digit save outing of the season. She leads the Empire 8 Conference and ranks in the top 10 nationally with a .562 save percentage.
