Box l Updated Stats

Rochester, NY – Nazareth had strong production from its senior class on Saturday, including a career-high five goals from Katie Carroll in a 17-13 win over Utica on Senior Day.  Classmate Morgan Johnson also had a career-high in points with two goals and three assists.  Haley DeVona was good for three goals and three assists, while Jamie Martin was credited with four points (3 goals, 3 assists).

With the win, Nazareth improves to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while Utica slides to 8-6 and 4-3, respectively.

Johnson played a part in two of the first three goals to help Nazareth jump out to an early 3-0 lead 2:34 into the contest.

The Golden Flyers opened with the first six goals, as DeVona's first tally capped the run less than eight minutes in.

Following a stretch of three-straight goals from the Pioneers, freshman Tori Blazey scored her third of the day to put the Flyers up 7-3.

Utica was able to trim the lead all the way to 9-7 before DeVona responded with under a minute to play to make it 10-7 at the break.

That momentum carried over into the second with the Golden Flyers scoring the first five goals to extend their lead to 15-7.

Johnson scored her second of the day nearly 10 minutes in for a 13-7 lead.

Carroll later scored her fourth of the day, followed by DeVona's third to push the Golden Flyers advantage to 15-7.

Utica then had goal spurt of its own, scoring the next five goals over a 10-minute span to claw within 15-12 with 7:08 remaining.

That was as close as the Pioneers would come, however, with Martin and Carroll scoring two of the final three goals of the game.

Mackenzie Corbett started the game in goal, making one save in 10:42 and allowing two goals.  Brianna Rizzari closed out the contest with six saves and 11 goals against.

Nazareth closes out its home slate on Tuesday, hosting RIT at 4 p.m.
