Naperville, IL – The Nazareth men's volleyball squad battled to a four set win against North Central (IL), 25-21, 22-25, 25-23, 30-28 on Thursday night in non-conference action.
Sean Dillon stood out for the Golden Flyers with 11 kills on a .333 attack percentage, while notching four blocks.
Nazareth is now 16-7 overall, while the Cardinals drop to 11-7.
Nazareth led by as many as six points in the opening set, only to see the Cardinals even the score at 20-20. That is when
Ethan Ross put down a kill and added a service ace to help Nazareth score five of the final six points to close the set.
In the fourth set, Nazareth appeared to be in trouble, facing a 21-13 deficit. Nazareth rattled off six straight points thereafter and eventually tied the score at 23. The comeback was finally complete, following kills from
Zachary Gillard and
Garrett Rodi.
Gillard finished the match with a match-high 13 kills, to go along with 11 digs and three service aces.
Sam Bittker contributed nine kills and five blocks.
Jake Kemp had 34 assists, with nine digs.
Nazareth returns to action on Friday, taking on Milwaukee School of Engineering at 8 p.m. (EST).
