Zachary Gillard put down 14 kills Saturday on a .778 attack percentage to help Nazareth topple Sage in three sets, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20. Nazareth, winners of seven straight, is now 15-6 overall and 3-1 in UVC conference play.
The Golden Flyers will face ninth-ranked New Paltz on Sunday (11-5 overall, 2-1 UVC) at 3 p.m.
Nazareth started out with just four errors over the first two sets to set the tempo. In the second set, Nazareth's offense put down 16 kills on 24 attempts with just one error (.625 attack percentage).
In the third set, Nazareth was behind 13-12 before a crucial stretch of stringing together three straight points to re-gain momentum.
Antonio Sargent and Gillard had kills on the run. Sage never threatened down the stretch of the set.
Jake Kemp had 37 assists and eight digs in the winning effort.
Senior
Sam Bittker tallied nine kills (.111) and seven assists.
Sean Dillon was a perfect 4-for-4 on his swings, while
Joe Crosby had five kills (.400).
Nazareth finished the match hitting .392 (41 kills, 12 errors, 74 attempts).
