ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Stevens used a late scoring run to hold off Nazareth in an Empire 8 women's basketball game Saturday. The Ducks outscored Nazareth 13-7 over the final three minutes to take a 65-59 victory over the Golden Flyers at the Kidera Gymnasium.

The victory enabled the Ducks to sweep the season series from the Golden Flyers, who had a four-game winning streak snapped. Nazareth still maintains a one-game lead over Stevens in the E8 standings with a 7-5 conference mark and an overall record of 11-10. Stevens is 9-12 overall and 6-6 in conference games. Stevens also defeated Nazareth, 55-49, in Hoboken on Jan. 19. Nazareth returns to action Tuesday for a conference road game at Houghton.

Stevens had a 10-point lead, 52-42, early in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Flyers rallied to score 10 straight points to tie the score at 52-52, with two free throws by Rachel Benedict serving as the tying points. Sam Winter then sank three foul shots for the Ducks, but Benedict answered with her fifth three-pointer of the game to knot the score again at 55-55.

Megan Brown scored for Stevens on the next possession to give the Ducks the lead for good. Nazareth stayed close, though, as Lizzie Straub made a free throw and Demetria Woodard hit a three-pointer with :29 left to keep the Golden Flyers within a point at 60-59. Brown helped to ice the win by hitting four free throws in the closing seconds and Winter added another as Stevens defeated Nazareth for the 11th straight time in women's hoops and for the 22nd time overall in 23 meetings.

Stevens had leads of 13-11, 30-28 and 49-42 at the quarter breaks. Winter led the Ducks with 21 points, while Brown combined 13 points with 15 rebounds.

Benedict had a career-high 28 points for the Golden Flyers, who made 11 three-pointers in 23 attempts, including five each for Benedict and Samantha Peebles.
