ROCHESTER, NY -- Freshman Keeley Rose scored three goals and assisted on three other goals to lead the Nazareth College women's hockey team to a convincing 14-0 win over King's (PA) College in a United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) game Friday afternoon at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.
The shutout win for Nazareth (5-0 overall, 1-0 UCHC) extended a streak of four straight games without allowing a goal. The shutout streak is currently at 298 minutes. Since Anna Maria scored early in the first game of the season, the Golden Flyers have outscored opponents 45-0.
Rose earned her first point of the game with an assist on the second goal of the game which was scored by freshman Emily Kromer. The goal gave Nazareth a 2-0 lead as freshman Taylor Hudon scored 2:10 into the contest. The first goal of the game for Hudon extended her streak of five consecutive games with the first goal of the game.
The first goal was also one of the three power play goals on the day for Nazareth.
Rose added two more assists in the first period as she recorded helpers on goals by freshman Hailey Redders and a second goal by Hudon. Freshman Maria Di Cresce added a pair goals as Nazareth built a 6-0 lead before the end of the first period.
Kelly McMorrow scored her first career goal to start the second period with an assist from Riley Ellsworth. Three minutes later, Cristina Darby scored with a pass from Ellsworth to give Nazareth an 8-0 lead.
Stephanie Kubis scored two minutes later with a shorthanded goal to extend the lead with Kromer picking up the assist. Rose started the scoring in the third period as Hannah Tulchinsky and Nikolle Van Stralen each adding a goal and Rose scoring two more to close out the scoring.
Nazareth fired 64 shots on goal while King's (1-4, 0-3) was limited to 14. Adrianna Brehm won her third game of the season making 14 saves for Nazareth while the Monarchs used three goalies that combined for 50 saves.
The same two teams meet again at 1 p.m. Saturday to complete the weekend series.
