WILKES-BARRE, PA -- Freshman Hailey Redders scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Nazareth College women's hockey team to a 7-0 win over Wilkes University Saturday as the Golden Flyers notched their third consecutive shutout victory in the non-conference game.
Nazareth (4-0) scored early in the contest as freshman Taylor Hudon scored the first Golden Flyers goal for the fourth consecutive game with her fifth goal of the season just 1:49 into the contest.
Redders scored her first of the night at the 11:29 mark and sophomore Rebecca Audi scored to make it 3-0 just two minutes later.
It was Redders again late in the second period to boost the lead to 4-0 on a goal set up by freshmen Stephanie Kubis and Anibella Barona.
Freshman Maria Di Cresce started the run of three Nazareth goals in the third period with her first career goal. Keeley Rose and Mikaila Rubin each scored in a span of 10 seconds midway through the period to close out the scoring. Redders assisted on the Rose goal while Ashley Decker and Hudon added helpers on the Rubin goal.
Hanna Barry, Cristina Darby and Nikolle Van Stralen each added single assists for Nazareth.
Emily Smith made 10 saves in the Nazareth goal as the two Wilkes goalies combined to make 61 saves.
The Golden Flyers return to action Friday and Saturday with a pair of United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) games against King's at the Bill Gray's Iceplex
