OSWEGO, NY – Senior Tyler Stenglein scored 17 points while fellow senior Jake Burgio added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Nazareth College men's basketball team but it was not enough as SUNY Oswego posted a 70-55 victory Tuesday night to deliver the first loss of the season to the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth (3-1), listed just outside the D3hoops.com top-25 poll, struggled shooting from the floor with a 35 percent (21-for-60) effort from the field including just 3-for-15 (20%) from 3-point range for the game.
Burgio led the Golden Flyers in the first half as he carried the load for 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Brendan Wind was the next highest scorer in the opening half with four points. Stenglein paced Nazareth in the second half with 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Wind and Burgio added four points each over the last 20 minutes.
Wind finished with eight points and freshman Zach Stenglein added six for the Golden Flyers.
