WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --
Cristina Darby and
Keeley Rose each scored pair of goals for visiting Nazareth Friday as the Golden Flyers remained unbeaten in women's hockey with a dominating 10-0 victory over Wilkes.
Nazareth is 3-0 overall after gaining their second shutout victory. Wilkes dropped to 0-3. Combined with a pair of one-sided non-league wins last weekend, the Golden Flyers have outscored the opposition 24-1 over the first three games. Nazareth and Wilkes meet again Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
The Golden Flyers had a whopping 51-11 edge in shots and scored twice in the first period and three more times in the second. Darby also contributed a pair of assists, including one on the game's first goal by
Taylor Hudon at 13:05. Darby then scored before the first period ended off assists from
Emily Kromer and
Jessica Kollberg.
Darby added another assist on the first goal of the second period as
Hailey Redders converted on the power play for her second goal of the season. Rose then delivered the next two goals as Nazareth built an insurmountable advantage after two periods.
The Golden Flyers poured it on in the third period as five different players scored. Darby scored her second goal of the game with an assist from
Stephanie Kubis. Then Kubis scored for the first time this season with help from
Kyla Thompson and
Kelly McMorrow.
Anibella Barona,
Delaney Carle and Kromer also tallied.
Adrianna Brehm went the distance in goal for the Golden Flyers and made 11 routine saves to pick up the shutout.
