ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth completed a successful opening weekend Saturday by dominating Anna Maria in women's hockey for the second day in a row. The Golden Flyers used a 62-9 advantage in shots to score a 9-0 victory over the Amcats in a non-conference game at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.

After winning 5-1 Friday, the Golden Flyers completed the weekend at 2-0, while Anna Maria dropped to 0-2. The Golden Flyers open their United Collegiate Hockey Conference schedule next weekend with a pair of road games at Wilkes. The Golden Flyers play Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Against the Amcats, the Golden Flyers controlled the action from the outset. Taylor Hudon and Gabriella DeMeo each scored twice and added assists. Hannah Tulchinsky had a goal and two assists and Emily Kromer and Nikolle Van Stralen each had one goal and one assist.

Although Nazareth dominated the opening period, the game was scoreless for the first 15 minutes before Hudon finally broke the deadlock with her second goal of the season with assists from Tulchinsky and DeMeo. Less than two minutes later Van Stralen converted a power play opportunity with help from Maria Di Cresce and Stephanie Kubis.

Nazareth added two more goals in the second period, then poured it on with five more tallies in the third. Hudon scored again in the second and then assisted (along with Mikaila Rubin) on DeMeo's first goal at 11:23.

Nazareth outshot the visitors 44-4 over the second and third periods with Lauren Jones, Kromer, DeMeo, Anibella Barona and Tulchinsky each cracking the scoring column.

Noelle Giroux made the start in goal and played all 60 minutes to produce the program's first shutout. She made nine saves. The Amcats used a different goalie in each period with the trio of Gabrielle Gibson, Sawyer Duncan and Gabrielle Ohanesian combining for 53 saves.
