TROY, N.Y. -- Sophomore
Emilee Rosenberg scored a career-best three goals Saturday to lift visiting Nazareth to a 4-1 field hockey victory over Sage in Empire 8 Conference action.
Nazareth also got a goal and two assists from freshman
Mikaylee Whalen as the Golden Flyers evened their overall record at 8-8 and their E8 mark at 3-3. Sage slipped to 2-11 and 0-7 respectively.
Despite a 7-1 shooting advantage in the first half, Nazareth was held off the scoreboard until the 32nd minute when Rosenberg converted a pass from sophomore
Alexandra Livesey.
Then, less than four minutes into the second half, Rosenberg scored again, this time off a pass from Whalen. About three minutes later, Whalen added her seventh tally of the season as the Golden Flyers built an insurmountable advantage. Whalen and Rosenberg connected again in the 55th minute with Rosenberg finishing for her fifth goal of the season and the hat trick for the game.
Sage got on the board as time expired and the Gators scored off a penalty corner.
Senior
Kimber Nourse went the distance in goal for Nazareth and made six saves. Abigayle Greier made eight saves for the Gators.
Nazareth is at Geneseo Sunday for a non-conference game at 3 p.m. The Golden Flyers are back home Wednesday to host St. John Fisher at 6 p.m.
