ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Four players scored their first goal of the season as six different players netted goals for the Nazareth College men's soccer team Wednesday night as the Golden Flyers posted a 6-1 victory over Alfred State in a non-conference game on the turf field at Nazareth.

Nazareth (8-3-1) scored twice in the first two minutes of the game to take an early lead. Freshman Zein Mohamed scored his fifth goal of the season 1:49 into the contest and senior James Walsh added his first goal of the season seven seconds later as the Golden Flyers jumped out early.

Sophomore Justin Pumputis and senior Mitchell Fors each scored their first goals of the year before the end of the first half as Nazareth took a 4-0m lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, Alfred State (2-8-2) scored on a shot from outside the 18-yard box to narrow the lead to 4-1. The goal was the first ever for the Pioneers in the previous three games against Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers wasted little time regaining the four-goal lead as sophomore Jake Adams scored on a penalty shot 40 seconds later and senior Josh Ripic added a late goal for his first of the season to cap the scoring with less than three minutes remaining.

Junior Brian Wilkin, freshman Zachary Tone and sophomore Josh McNutt combined to make four saves in goal for Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers return to Empire 8 play at Alfred University at 6 p.m. Saturday.
