ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women's soccer team was held scoreless for the second consecutive game Wednesday, losing 1-0 to crosstown rival RIT at Golden Flyers stadium in non-conference action.
With the loss, Nazareth drops to 4-2-1, while RIT moves to 6-1 overall.
Neither squad had much offensive success in the opening half as RIT had just four shots to Nazareth's three.
The Tigers broke through, however, with one minute remaining in the half, as Rachel Strader blasted a shot from 25-yards out off an assist from Maria Roberts.
The Golden Flyers started off the second half with a different vibe generating three early shots, including a low driven shot that was pushed aside by the Tigers goalkeeper.
The best opportunity for Nazareth came with under five minutes remaining in regulation as
Jessica Byrnes served a ball to the back post for the head of
Jordyn Ruston that was kept from going in the net.
Hannah Miller made three saves in net during 90 minutes of action.
In all, Nazareth finished the game with a 9-7 edge in shots.
Nazareth will look to get back to its winning ways on Saturday, opening up Empire 8 play at Utica for a 1 p.m. contest.
