ROCHESTER , NY - Freshman
Miranda Timberlake scored two first half goals and added an assist as Nazareth cruised to a 6-0 victory Saturday afternoon over Allegheny College to improve to 2-0 on the season. The Golden Flyers scored three goals in each half.
Allegheny drops to 0-2 on the year with the loss.
Timberlake converted a header outside the six-yard box off a free kick in the 35
th minute to gain a 1-0 margin. It was her first collegiate goal.
Less than two minutes later, the freshman from New Market, MD cashed in her second of the day off a corner kick.
Samantha Sansone touched the initial corner back toward Timberlake who blasted it into the net.
Elizabeth Guidi also picked up an assist on the goal after taking the corner kick.
The successful first half culminated in
Mary LoCicero rocketing a shot off the inside of the right post in the 42
nd minute. Freshman
Kristen Prohaska was credited with the assist.
Nazareth outshot the Gators 18-2 at the break.
Senior
Paige Sullivan got in on the action in the second half, using a strong individual effort to toe poke a shot past the Gators goalkeeper 17 minutes in.
Timberake added an assist with under 20 minutes to play to make it 5-0. She played a through ball between the central defenders, allowing Guidi to hit a right footed shot into the far post. She finished with one goal and chipped in two assists.
The last goal of the contest came at the feet of
Julia Delgatti off Prohaska's second assist of the day.
Hannah Miller improved to 2-0 in net after making three saves.
Nazareth returns to action on Thursday when it travels to SUNY Geneseo for a 5 p.m. contest.
