Zachary Gillard matched a career-high with 20 kills and No. 10 Nazareth hit .364 as a team to down 15
th-ranked Juniata in four sets, 25-21, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22. Gillard had 20 kills on 37 attempts with three errors (.459). As a team, the Golden Flyers put down 55 kills on 122 attempts with 21 errors.
Nazareth improves to 6-3 overall and Juniata drops to 4-4.
In the opening set, Gillard notched six kills to help get the offense going, while
Sean Dillon added three of his own.
Following a kill from Gillard in the second set, Nazareth led 18-7 and went on to take the set 25-17.
After a faulty third set, Nazareth got back on track with its best hitting performance set of the night – 17 kills, five errors, 33 attempts (.364) in the fourth set to close out the victory.
Dillon finished with a career-high in kills as well with nine on 16 attempts (.375).
Kane Wittorff tallied nine kills of his own (.300), while
Ethan Ross added five (.625).
Luis Vazquez contributed six digs and two service aces.
Nazareth returns to action with two games tomorrow. Nazareth takes on Johnson& Wales at 11 a.m. on Saturday and No. 4 UC Santa Cruz at 3 p.m.
