HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Host Stevens outscored Nazareth 17-2 in the second period Saturday to pull away from the Golden Flyers for a 67-41 women's basketball victory in the final regular-season game for both teams.

The victory clinched the regular-season Empire 8 Conference title for the Ducks, who finished 15-9 overall and 14-2 in conference games. Nazareth, held to a season-low point total, finished the season at 11-14 overall and 7-9 in the Empire 8.

Leading just 12-10 after the first quarter, Stevens turned up the intensity in the second quarter by holding the Golden Flyers scoreless over the first seven minutes of the period. Freshman Shelby Benjamin accounted for the lone basket of the quarter as Nazareth trailed 29-12 at the break.

Stevens padded its lead in the second half by outscoring Nazareth 21-15 in the third quarter and 17-14 in the fourth.

Freshman Rachel Benedict was the only Nazareth player to crack the double-digit point barrier as she finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Senior Sam Sorge struggled to find her shooting stroke in her final game as she went just 3-for-19 from the floor and 1-for-8 from three-point range for eight points. Benjamin combined seven points with seven rebounds and freshman Lizzie Straub also netted seven points.

Nazareth went just 15-for-65 from the field (23.1 percent) and 2-for-21 from three-point range (9.5 percent).

As Nazareth's lone senior, Sorge completed her career with 1,230 points to rank eighth all-time. She also set the career mark for three-point baskets made with 188 and ranks in the top 10 all-time in free-throw percentage at .784.
