Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY – Visiting Nazareth dropped a pair of non-conference games on Tuesday afternoon at Buffalo State College, falling 7-0 in the opening matchup before being edged out 3-2 in the nightcap.
Nazareth falls to .500 on the season with a 13-13 record, while Buffalo State moves to 12-14.
Game one: Buffalo State 7, Nazareth 0
The hosts scored one run in the opening frame as Stephanie Novo singled and stole two bases to get into scoring position. The Bengals added two more in the second inning to open up a 3-0 lead.
Lexi Haley held Nazareth to just one hit in the game coming off a
Nicole White single in the fifth inning.
Buffalo State mustered 12 hits in the contest. The Bengals benefited from four errors in the sixth inning, to go along with four hits, scoring four more runs.
White dropped to 5-7 on the year with the loss, striking out two batters.
Game 2: Buffalo State 3, Nazareth 2
The Bengals used a three run fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead over Nazareth. In the sixth inning, freshman
Delaney St. George doubled to score
Stephanie Mongelli before Madizon Zeis was thrown out at the plate on what would have been the game-tying run. Nazareth's next two batters could not bring around St. George from third base.
Nazareth scored its first run of the day in the second inning. Mongelli doubled in the inning and Zeis followed that up with a single. Later in the inning,
Samantha Rogalski pushed Mongelli around for the 1-0 lead.
Rachel Mertens suffered the loss on the mound, allowing six hits and three runs (two earned). Mongelli and
Maureen Rogers each had two hits in the game.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday when it will travel to St. John Fisher for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
