Updated statsBROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Seventh-ranaked Nazareth split a pair of United Volleyball Conference matches Saturday as the Golden Flyers dropped a four-set match to 15th-ranked New York University before sweeping Bard. Nazareth lost to NYU by scores of 25-17, 25-19, 20-25, 25-14. Scores against Bard were 25-11, 25-18, 25-20.
The NYU loss was Nazareth's third in conference play this season. At 4-3 in UVC play and 22-8 overall, Nazareth hosts Penn State Behrend in UVC action Tuesday at 7 p.m. NYU is 11-11 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while Bard is 7-20 overall and 0-7 in the UVC.

Zachary Gillard each had 11 kills against NYU and sophomore setter
Jake Kemp totaled 34 assists. The host Violets dominated sets one and four with hitting percentages of .600 (14-2-20) and .500 (15-3-24) respectively. NYU's Nick Benson, who posted a match-high 14 kills, had five in the first set, while Chase Klein added four.
In the second set, the score was tied 13-13 when NYU outscored Nazareth 12-6 the rest of the way. Chase Corbett had four kills in the swet for BYU, including one on the 14th points that gave them the lead for good.
In the third set, junior
Kane Wittorff had four of his five kills to lift the Golden Flyers. In the fourth set, though, Nazareth managed just six kills against five hitting errors while NYU had 15 kills.
Against Bard, junior
Robert Sarneckis had a career-best eight kills and freshman
Ethan Ross added seven kills with four blocks. Kemp contributed 19 kills and freshman
Tyler Farnung had 13 more. Junior
Tom Keisling also served up three aces.
