Stevens Rallies Past Women's Hoops

ROCHESTER, NY – Visiting Stevens closed the fourth quarter on a 19-2 run over the final five minutes to earn a come-from-behind, 75-65, win over host Nazareth Friday night at Kidera Gymnasium.

The Golden Flyers fall to 17-7 overall and 10-5 in Empire 8 contests.  Stevens remains undefeated in conference play at 15-0 and moves to 19-5 overall.

Trailing by three in the fourth quarter, Veronica Peck evened the score with a triple, fueling a 10-0 spurt to give the Golden Flyers a 63-56 with five minutes to play. 

Nazareth went cold from the field, however, allowing Stevens to eventually move in front, 67-65, with 1:33 to play on the game clock.  The Ducks led the rest of the way. 
  
Peck gave Nazareth its largest lead of the first half after hitting a 3-pointer to make it 17-10 in favor of the home squad.

Peck also connected from range at the end of the quarter as Nazareth led 20-17 after one.

The second quarter was closely contested as well.  Lindsey Kelly connected on her first-career 3-pointer from straight on to tie the score at 31 apiece.

Stevens held a 36-33 halftime lead.

The Ducks built a 50-44 lead with 3:15 left in the quarter before Nazareth closed on a 9-2 run to take a 53-52 advantage into the fourth.  Sam Sorge had four points on the run and dished out an assist on a 3-pointer to Samantha Peebles.

Sorge score 14 of her team-high 20 points (7-of-16) in the first half and collected 12 rebounds for her first-career double-double.

Kelly notched another double-double with 17 points (6-of-11), while grabbing 10 boards.

Peck poured in 12 points (4-of-12), while Julia Brew contributed 11 (5-of-12).

Nazareth closes out the regular season against Utica College at 4 p.m. on Saturday for Senior Day.
