HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Second-seeded Ithaca made short work of third-seeded Nazareth Saturday in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament for women's volleyball. The Bombers advanced to Sunday's conference title match with a three-set sweep of the Golden Flyers. Scores were 25-20, 25-7, 25-14.
Ithaca improved to 25-5 overall and will play top-seeded Stevens Sunday at 12 p.m. for the E8 title. Nazareth dropped to 22-10 after falling to the Bombers for the second time this season. Stevens defeated St. John Fisher in three sets in Saturday's other semifinal. Both matches were played at Stevens' Canavan Gymnasium.
Nazareth posted 12 kills in the opening set to keep the match close, but the Golden Flyers struggled mightily in the second set with 11 hitting errors against just two kills. Nazareth had eight more hitting errors in the third set. Ithaca, meanwhile, was steady throughout the match with a .268 percentage that included 34 kills.

Cady Messmer had 10 kills with seven digs for Nazareth. Sophomore
Kelsey Milligan added eight kills and on block and senior
Maureen Thayer had 19 assists.
