ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women's soccer team posted its sixth-straight shutout and seventh consecutive win after a 2-0 blanking at St. John Fisher on Tuesday night. In the seven straight wins, Nazareth has outscored its opponents 17-1.
Allison Dobles made one save in net to earn her ninth shutout of the season – she has not allowed a goal in 550:54 of play.
The Golden Flyers improve to 11-2-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while Fisher falls to 3-7-3 and 2-3-2, respectively.
It was a lopsided match in terms of shots as the visiting team held a 20-4 margin for the game.
Nazareth took advantage of one of its early opportunities.
Laura Herman played a diagonal ball to
Julia Delgatti for a one-time shot into the side netting. The junior has 11 goals in 2016, scoring once in each of the last seven games.
The score would remain 1-0 until late in the half.
Kate Billington played a long ball from midfield that
Mary LoCicero calmly put past the charging Fisher goalkeeper from the 18-yard box. It was LoCicero's first goal of the season.
In the second half, Nazareth mustered six of its 10 corner kicks, but did not convert.
Michaela Soules and
Paige Sullivan each had three shots in the contest.
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday when it will take on Carnegie Mellon at 3:30 p.m. for Senior Day.
