Danielle Wilkin scored at the 109:20 mark in double overtime to lift host Nazareth over the University of Rochester, 1-0 on Tuesday night.
With the win, Nazareth improves to 6-1-2 overall, while the Yellowjackets fall to 4-3-1 on the season.
Although being outshot 25-12 in the contest, Nazareth held tight on defense thanks to a career-high 16 saves from goalkeeper
Allison Dobles, allowing Wilkin the opportunity to clinch the game in the double overtime.
Rachel Dise played a cross in from the left flank and Wilkin tapped it into the near post from just beyond the six yard box for the game-winner.
Nazareth generated some quality opportunities early in the first half, beginning with
Michaela Soules launching a difficult header towards the goalkeeper in the third minute. The Golden Flyers created another dangerous chance off a corner kick in the 12
th minute. Coming off of a short corner kick,
Sarah Conroy registered a shot just over the crossbar.
In the second half, Nazareth generated its most dangerous chance in the 58
th minute as a
Jessica Barden shot from outside the box went just wide of the far post.
Nazareth returns to action on Friday when it will travel to Utica College for a 5 p.m. contest.
