ROCHESTER, N.Y – The Nazareth College field hockey squad fell 1-0 to visiting Ithaca College on Saturday in a battle of two teams who entered with a 2-1 record in Empire 8 play.

With the loss, Nazareth falls to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while Ithaca moves to 6-2, 3-1, respectively.

Ithaca was able to score the lone goal of the game at the 12:35 mark.  Cassie Schuttrumpf was able to knock in a goal to the far post off a pass from Olivia Salindong.

Nazareth put on some pressure midway through the half on back-to-back penalty corners.  Magill Woodruff and Maggie Muzio each had their shots turned aside by goalkeeper Katie Lass who came into the game with a .56 goals against average.

The Bombers outshot Nazareth 25-6 in the contest but goaltender Kimber Nourse, making her third straight start, made 19 saves.

Nazareth nearly tied the score at one as Catherine Willard drew penalty stroke at the 66:13 mark.  Willard, however, had her shot saved by a diving Lass to preserve the shutout.

Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday when it will travel to SUNY Cortland for a 4 p.m. contest.
