Updated statsCORTLAND, N.Y. -- Sixth-ranked Cortland dominated visiting Nazareth from start to finish Tuesday as the Red Dragons defeated the Golden Flyers, 20-5, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game.
Cortland improved to 4-1 overall, while Nazareth dropped to 5-2. The Golden Flyers open their Empire 8 Conference schedule this weekend with home games against Houghton Friday at 4 p.m. and St. John Fisher Saturday at 3 p.m.

Brooke Sullivan and sophomore
Kate Rothrock each scored two goals for Nazareth, but Cortland's Emma Hayes-Hurley scored six times and Ashley Gentile added four goals as the Red Dragons were in control. The Red Dragons scored six goals before the game was five minutes old. Hayes-Hurley scored four of her goals in the first half when Cortland was building a 14-3 lead. Rothrock and Sullivan each scored in the first half for Nazareth as did sophomore
Gabbie Charles.
Cortland finished with sizable advantages in short (36-18), ground balls (21-14) and draw controls (19-8).
Senior
Ashley Kirch played the first half in goal for Nazareth and had three saves. Freshman
Mackenzie Corbett played the last 30 minutes and made eight saves. Cortland's Jaclyn Beshlian and Liz Ingalls combined to make seven saves.Â
