ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- After allowing the first two goals of Tuesday's contest against RIT, the visiting Golden Flyers scored seven consecutive times to claim a five-goal lead at half time. Nazareth went on to defeat the Tigers 13-10 in the non-conference women's lacrosse game. Senior Brooke Sullivan amassed seven points with four goals and three assists to lead the Golden Flyers' offense.

With the victory, Nazareth remains undefeated and improves to 4-0 overall. Following the loss, RIT drops to 2-2 overall.

In addition to the scoring by Sullivan, junior Carly Gates, sophomore Leah Marvin, and freshman Haley DeVona each recorded two goals. Sophomores Hayley Spoljaric, Jamie Martin, and Kate Rothrock all had one goal for the Golden Flyers.

After RIT's Sage Sarkis and Emily Livechhi each scored in the opening 10 minutes of regulation, Spoljaric put Nazareth on the board moments after Livechhi's goal. Spoljaric's goal, her second of the season, was set up by a pass from Sullivan.

The Golden Flyers scored three goals in a span of only 1:15 to change their one-goal deficit into a two-goal lead. With 12:11 to play in the half, Marvin scored the game-tying goal with an unassisted score, which was her first of the season. Only 22 seconds later, Sullivan found Gates for a man-up goal to give Nazareth its first lead. Martin capped the run with her fifth goal of the season. Sullivan was credited with the assist, which was her third assist in the Golden Flyers' first four goals.

With 5:47 to play in the period, Sullivan was on the scoring end when she converted a free position opportunity. Marvin and Sullivan each connected on free position shots in the final minute of the first to stretch Nazareth's lead to 7-2 at the break.

After the Tigers were held scoreless for nearly 22 minutes, Livecchi ended the drought 1:35 into the second period. Eighty seconds, later, however, Rothrock answered with her ninth goal of the season to reclaim the Golden Flyers' five-goal advantage.

RIT closed its deficit to 9-6 with 17:55 to play in regulation after the Tigers scored three of four goals in less than four minutes. Amanda Olsen, Sarkis, and Corinna Mandell had goals for RIT. Nazareth's lone goal was by Gates, which came on a free position shot.

Following a timeout by the Golden Flyers, Rothrock collected the loose ball after a missed shot by Nazareth. She eventually found DeVona, who scored a pivotal goal to slow the Tigers' surge. RIT and Nazareth traded the next four goals to leave the Golden Flyers ahead 12-8 with 8:12 to play in regulation. Sullivan scored both of Nazareth's goals while Sammy Ward and Sarkis found the back of the net for the Tigers. DeVona's second goal of the game, and eighth of the season, extended the Golden Flyers' lead back to five goals.

RIT's Livecchi and Schmauder both scored in the final minutes to cut the Tigers' final deficit to three goals. Schmauder's goal came on a free position shot with three seconds to play.

Senior Ashley Kirch earned the victory with a career-high 11 saves. Caitlin Conway took the loss for RIT after playing the first half and allowing seven goals. Elizabeth Hughes played the second half and allowed six goals. Conway and Hughes were credited with three saves and five saves, respectively.

The teams each finished with 21 shots on goal. Nazareth had a 24-18 advantage in ground balls collected, including 11-5 in the second half. RIT had a 12-10 edge in draw controls. The Golden Flyers were perfect 17-17 on their clear attempts.

Nazareth is in action again on Friday and Saturday. The Golden Flyers host Brockport on the 20th and Rochester on the 21st in a pair of non-conference contests.
