Nazareth College Athletics

Communication and Media major... born 10/13/93... daughter of Daniel and Karen Gates, Vestal, N.Y... returning for her fourth season with the Golden Flyers, Gates started in all 16 games in 2015 ... tallied 33 points, including 27 goals and six assists ... she scored at least one goal in 14 games ... tied a career-high in points with four goals in a victory over Hartwick on 4/18/15 ...  tallied four points off of three goals and one assist in a 12-11 win over William Smith on 3/7/15 ... led the team in ground balls, collecting 36 ... also ranked first with 14 caused turnovers and 39 draw controls ... Gates was honored as a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star and second-team Empire region all-star ... selected as E8 sportswoman of the year in 2015.

2014: in her third season with the Golden Flyers, Gates continued to be one of Nazareth’s top players as she was honored as a second-team Empire 8 Conference all-star... ranked third on the team in goals with 22 and finished second on the team in total points with 31… started all 16 of the Golden Flyers’ games and scored at least one goal in 12 games… had a career-high four goals in Nazareth’s win at Alfred (4/23/14) and tallied three goals against Stevenson (3/10/14), Elmira (4/19/14), and Stevens (4/26/14)… tied for second in ground balls collected with 32 and she also had 13 draw controls and forced 10 turnovers.

2013: Gates made an immediate impact during her freshman campaign as she played in all 17 of Nazareth’s games, including one as a starter… finished with 12 goals and one assist while also contributing 23 ground balls, 18 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers… had her first career goal against William Smith (3/9/13) and had her first multiple-point game against Utica (4/7/13) as she tallied a goal and an assist… Gates scored a season-high two goals against Houghton (4/16/13) and collected a season-high four draw controls against Alfred (3/29/13).

Scholastic: a graduate of Vestal High School, Gates was a member of the cross country, track and lacrosse teams... earned Section Four all-star honors as a midfielder in lacrosse for 2011 and 2012... helped team to Section Four titles in 2009, 2010 and 2012... also won four Section Four titles in cross country (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011)... recipient of cross country coaches award for 2010 and sportsmanship award for 2011... recipient of NYS Scholar-Athlete award 2008 through 2012 and President's Education Award for 2008.
