MCLA boxONEONTA, N.Y. -- Nazareth split a pair of women's volleyball matches Friday on day one of the Hartwick Invitational. Nazareth dropped a three-set match to Coast Guard Academy and the defeated Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in three sets. Nazareth lost to Coast Guard by scores of 26-24, 25-20, 25-21 and defeated MCLA by scores of 26-24, 25-13, 25-23.
Nazareth dropped to 12-8 overall and plays twice Saturday against SUNY Delhi at 12 p.m. and Union at 4.
Against Coast Guard, junior
Cady Messmer had team highs in kills (14) and digs (12) and senior
Jennifer Hicks added eight kills. Junior setter
Maureen Thayer had 32 assists.
Nazareth dominated MCLA in the second match as Messmer had six kills and three aces. Hicks added seven kills and three blocks and Thayer had 28 assists. Sophomore
Lindsay Bynon had seven digs.
