ROCHESTER, NY - Nazareth dropped its fifth straight, losing to Stevens Institute of Technology 5-0. The Ducks put the pressure on early scoring five first-half goals.
Nolie Prouty started the scoring with an unassisted goal just 5:35 into the game. She beat Nazareth keeper
Kimber Nourse to the inside left of the cage. Ten minutes later Dailyn Brook scored off a pass by Prouty to put Stevens up 2-0. At 17:05 Taylor Welch scored her first of two after collecting a rebound of Nourse's goal pads to make the score 3-0. Welch scored again beating Norse to the left off a hard shot from the top of the circle. Her second goal of the game was assisted by Janet Vill and put Stevens up 4-0. Victoria Alvarez rounded off the scoring for the Ducks tipping in a shot off a penalty corner. She was assisted by Cassidy O'Hern and Dailyn Brook.Â
The Golden Flyers were led by
Catherine Willard who had seven shots but was unable to get it past Stevens' goalkeeper Emily Stukenborg.
Magill Woodruff had two shots,
Maggie Muzio,
Kailee Coleman,
Megan Paris, and
Kristina Back all had a shot apiece.
Nazareth held the Ducks scoreless in the second half.
The Ducks out-shot Nazareth 22-13 and had a 13-6 advantage on penalty corners.Â
Norse played the first 22:47 in goal and made two saves, allowing four goals for Nazareth. Senior
Lauren Devine played the remainder of the game and finished with five saves and one goal against. Stukenborg finished with seven saves in the shutout win while Felicia Heard made a save in the final five minutes.
The Golden Flyers play again tomorrow hosting Morrisville in a non-conference game at 12 pm. Â
