Updated stats | CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Host Cortland scored the game-winning goal less than six minutes into the first overtime period Tuesday as the Red Dragons gained a 2-1 victory over Nazareth in a non-conference men's soccer match at Jets Stadium. The game was the first-ever meeting between the programs. The Red Dragons improved to 1-2 with the win, while the Golden Flyers fell to 1-2.

Jason Renfro (Fairport) and junior
Kory Seibt (Mineola/Chaminade) each recorded assists. Freshman goalie
Nate Ripic (Endicott/Union-Endicott) registered eight saves in his first career start.
Junior Tyler Marsh (Marathon) netted Cortland's first goal of the game with sophomore Robby Reiser (Melville/Half Hollow Hills East) assisting. Junior goalie Tim Beauvais (Hilton) made five saves.
Early in the first half, the Red Dragons carried much of the play, and the pressure paid off in the 12th minute. Junior Darren McCormack (Dublin, Ireland/Fingal) served a free kick across the box from the right side. Reiser controlled the ball and sent a pass into the middle of the box where Marsh delivered a clean header past Ripic for his first goal of the season.
The Golden Flyers scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute. Renfro lofted a pass from the right side to Seibt on the left side of the box. Seibt flicked a header back to the front of the goal to Foley who one-timed a shot under the crossbar. Nazareth had a decent opportunity to take the lead in the 84th minute, but a shot by senior
Luke Elston hit the crossbar.
In overtime, the Red Dragons had the better of the play and earned the win when sophomore Dillon Johnson controlled the ball from 40 yards out, spun to his left and rocketed a shot from 35 yards away that buried into the top left corner of the goal.
Cortland finished with advantages in shots (23-15) and corner kicks (8-1). Ripic finished with eight saves, while his Cortland counterpart, Tim Beauvais was credited with five saves.
Nazareth returns to the road Saturday for a non-conference game at Oswego at 1 p.m.
