ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting St. John Fisher completed a softball sweep of Nazareth Sunday as the Cardinals used 11 hits and solid pitching to score an 8-0 victory over the Golden Flyers.
Fisher defeated Nazareth 11-0 Friday in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader and had a 5-0 lead in the second when the game was suspended by rain. The Cardinals scored three more runs in the fifth inning to complete the doubleheader sweep. Fisher is 25-11 overall and 8-4 in Empire 8 Conference play. Nazareth is 5-18 overall and 3-9 in the E8.
In Friday's rain-shortened version, Fisher scored five runs in the top of the first inning on five hits, including a two-run triple by Krista Robarge, who went 3-for-3 in the game with three runs batted in. Leanne Merchant also had a two-run double.
In the fifth inning, Robarge drove home another run with a double and Meghan Burns had an RBI single.
Nazareth manged just three harmless singles off Fisher pitcher Sarah Stefanon, who had eight strikeouts to earn the win.

Sarah Cipperly and
Maureen Rogers had hits.
Bayona took the loss on the pitcher's mound despite five strikeouts.
Nazareth has non-conference doubleheaders at home on Tuesday (vs. Oswego) and Wednesday (vs. Buffalo State), then closes out its season at RIT Saturday, at Houghton Sunday and at Cortland April 30.
