ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Golden Flyers fell to #10 nationally ranked Stevens Saturday afternoon in men's soccer 4-0. The loss drops Nazareth to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the E8 Conference. The victory improves Stevens record to 8-1-1 overall, and 2-0 in the E8 Conference.
Brian Lang led the Flyers in shots on goal with a total of three. Nazareth's
Nate Ripic tallied up seven saves over 56 minutes of play.
J.P. Horan entered the net and did not allow any goals within 35 minutes of play and earned one save.
Stevens scored their first goal 27 minutes into the first half when Joe Cellitti lofted the ball past Ripic and found the top left corner. Soon after, at the 32 minute mark, the Ducks struck again. Stevens' Duck Colin Phillips took a free kick from the 18 yard box and was able to find the top left corner. Nazareth fought back and earned a total of six shots, but were unable to finish their chances.
Scoring continued in the second half when Stevens' Carson Pryor scored twice within a two minute span. The first came when Pryor received a through ball from teammate Joe Cellitti and beat Ripic to the lower left corner. The last goal of the game came from Pryor when he headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner from teammate Patrick Masur. The Golden Flyers continued to play hard, earning an additional five shots for the second half.
