Ithaca scores late to defeat Nazareth 1-0

ROCHESTER, NY - After 85 minutes of scoreless play, Ithaca's Blair Carney put one in the back of the goal to lead Ithaca in a 1-0 win over Nazareth College.  The Golden Flyers are now 5-9, and 2-3 in the Empire 8, while Ithaca improved to 4-9, and 3-2 in the E8.

In an evenly matched game, both teams had several scoring opportunities throughout the first 85 minutes.  Both teams' goalkeepers made some great saves to keep the score tied at 0.  Nazareth's Nate Ripic finished the game with six saves while Ithaca's Jordan Gentile had seven. 

Ithaca had a slight 14-13 advantage on shots, while Nazareth had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. 

Blair Carney scored his second goal of the season at 85:09 beating Ripic to the far right inside post.  He was assisted by Sean Forward. 

Nazareth plays a non-conference game at Buffalo State on October 29 at 4 pm before returning home on November 2 to face Alfred at 12 pm.  The Golden Flyers will need to defeat the Saxons to earn a spot in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.
