Nazareth men and women place third at Airfield Invitational

Fedrizzi and LeBihan finish first for their respective teams

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Oneonta for the Airfield Invitational. The men's and women's teams each finish third overall in their races. Senior Matt Fedrizzi was ninth overall in the men's 8-kilometer race with a time of 27:03. Sophomore Gabrielle LeBihan was second overall in the women's 6-kilometer race with a time of 22:56. Freshman Emily Thompson was also a top-10 finisher as she placed sixth with a time of 23:36.

In the women's race, Oneonta claimed the title with a total of 31 points. RPI was second with 43 points, and Nazareth was third with 60 points. Oneonta had five runners in the top 10 places to win the race.

The Golden Flyers' third runner across the line was graduate student Lauren Jamison. Jamison finished 11th with a time of 24:14. Sophomore Blair Meeson was 28th with a time of 25:12, and junior Michaela Gildemeyer rounded out Nazareth's top-five with 32nd-place finish and a time of 25:34.

Senior Lauren Heitzhaus (25:40) and junior Kassandra Lathrop (25:44) were 35th and 36th, respectively, for the Golden Flyers. Freshman Jamie DiSalvo (25:57). was 39th overall, followed by junior Meleana Spera (26:31) in 44th-place, freshman Kelly Maloney (27:31) in 53rd, and freshman Alycia Andolina (32:42) in 69-place.

RPI won the men's meet with five finishers taking the top five spots for a perfect score of 15 points. Oneonta was second with 52 points, followed by Nazareth in third with 101 points.

Following Fedrizzi for the Golden Flyers was sophomore Patrick Neureuter, who placed 40th overall with a time of 29:24. Freshman Ethan Osborne was seven places behind Neureuter with a time of 29:53. Freshman Thomas Lannon (30:30) was 51st overall followed by classmate Matt Battaglia (31:08) who was 52nd. Senior Jake Lafaver finished in 53rd place with a time of 31:14.

Freshman Jacob Murray and senior Zack Lafaver rounded out the Golden Flyers' finishers in 55th and 56th-place, respectively. Murray's time was 31:39 while Lafaver crossed the line with a time of 31:44.

Nazareth is off until October 26th when the Golden Flyers travel to Clinton, N.Y. for the NYSCTC Championships.
