Mark DeCirce and
Todd Dermody, senior captains on the Nazareth men's lacrosse team, have gained recognition this week from the Empire 8 Conference as Player and Goalie of the Week respectively.
DeCirce, an attackman from Binghamton, N.Y. and a graduate of Binghamton High School, helped the 12th-ranked Golden Flyers to a pair of non-conference victories last week in Dallas as he totaled 12 points on six goals and six assists. He had a career-best seven points on four goals and three assists in Saturday's 16-8 victory over Western New England. He also contributed two goals and three assists in an 11-4 win over Bowdoin. He ranks second on the team in scoring with 18 points on 10 goals and eight assists.
Dermody, a goalie from Selden, N.Y. and a graduate of Newfield High School, had a season-high 20 saves and allowed just four goals in the victory over Bowdoin. He had eight saves against Western New England. In five starts this season, Dermody has a goals-against average of 6.81 and a save percentage of .613.
Nazareth has a challenging week ahead. The Golden Flyers visit fourth-ranked Cortland Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. game. They also play 16th-ranked St. Lawrence Saturday at 2 p.m. at Skaneateles High School.
