ITHACA, N.Y. -- Graduate student Robby Castor was Nazareth's top individual finisher Saturday as Nazareth competed at the Kane Invitational at Cornell University's Barton Hall. More than 20 team and 1,300 athletes competed.

Castor finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.43. Senior Dave Patalano competed in the same race and placed 20th in 2:04.22.

Among the other Nazareth competitors were sophomore Dan Polino, who participated in the long jump (22nd place/5.92 meters) and the triple jump (24th place/11.94 meters); junior Matt Morales, who placed 17th ion the 5,000-meter run (15:59.42); and freshman Phil Schierer, who was 21st in the 400-meter dash (:53.67).

In the women's meet, junior Kristi Custer finished ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.45 meters, equivalent to 34 feet, 3 1/2 inches, and freshman Mindy Niebuhr was ninth in the high jump (4 feet, 11 inches).

Junior Sarah Wilcox ran 15th in the 5,000-meter run (20:13.64) and was followed closely by sophomore Michell Gillette, who was 16th in 20:33.35. Freshman Lauren Jamieson finished 19th in tthe 800-meter run (2:32.94) and 20th in the 1,500-meter run (5:35.63).
