FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Host Fredonia stretched its winning streak to three games Tuesday as an early first-half goal stood up in a 1-0 non-conference victory over Nazareth in men's soccer at University Stadium.
Junior forward Peter Dagel (Rochester/Gates-Chili) scored for the Blue Devils (3-3) while sophomore goalkeeper Bobby McGinnis (Elmira/Elmira Free) posted his first collegiate shutout.
After taking a short pass from Luke Spencer (Rochester/West Irondequoit) in the left flat, Dagel found the top of the net with a bender from the top of the 18-yard-line in the ninth minute.
It was Dagel's second goal of the season and moved him up two spots into 20th place on the Fredonia State all-time scoring list. His has 20 goals and seven assists for 47 points in 44 career games.
Nazareth had 14 shots, but McGinnis needed to make just one save to gain credit for the shutout. Senior
Trey Barresi (Lansing) made five saves for Nazareth. Each team took 14 shots.
Nazareth is on the road again Saturday at Hamilton at 1 p.m.
