ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The University of Rochester dominated the visiting Golden Flyers in a non-confefence men's soccer match at Fauver Stadium Tuesday. The 24th-ranked Yellowjackets scored once in each half for a 2-0 triumph over Nazareth.
In addition to blanking the Golden Flyers on the scoreboard, UR had a 20-4 advantage in shots and a 10-0 edge in corner kicks. UR improved its unbeaten record to 4-0-2 while the Golden Flyers fell to 1-4-1.
Rochester had nine shots in the first half, but the Golden Flyers kept the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard until the 43rd minute when Phil Proud converted a penalty kick following a Nazareth foul in the penalty area.
UR added its second goal in the 70th minute when J.J. Dennstedt headed in a cross from Misha Carrel-Thomas.
Freshman
Ryan Platt played all 90 minutes in goal for Nazareth and made seven saves.
The Golden Flyers are back home Saturday to host Hamilton at 3:30 p.m.
