ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth and visiting Union battled to a 0-0 tie Saturday in men's soccer action at Golden Flyer Stadium.

Union, despite a 14-10 shooting advantage, saw its record change to 3-1-1. Nazareth is 1-3-1 overall.

Nazareth freshman Ryan Platt (Preston, England) made eight saves to post his first career shutout. It was a save he didn't make, however, that saved the game for the Golden Flyers. With less than 30 minutes to play in regulation, Platt saved a point-blank shot by Union's Chis Choquette. The rebound came out to Ryan Benagan, whose shot was ticketed for the back of the net, but Nazareth's Sean Dorman headed it away before it reached the goal mouth.

Nazareth's best chance came in the 75th minute when Nazareth's Chris Mitchell was fouled in the penalty area. Junior midfielder Chris Löfgren took the resulting penalty kick, but Union goalie Rob Kramer thwarted the effort with a diving save.

The best scoring chance in overtime came in the second session when Nazareth's Mohammed Ahamed blasted a shot from about 17 yards out that was pushed aside by Kramer, who finished with five saves.

The Golden Flyers return to action Tuesday evening to play at the University of Rochester at 7 p.m.
