BOXSCORE | CUMULATIVE STATS
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Fifth-ranked Cortland scored the first nine goals of the game Wednesday against visiting Nazareth and had little difficulty disposing of the 11th-ranked Golden Flyers as the Red Dragons went on to a convincing 21-5 win in men's lacrosse.

Cortland improved to 6-1 overall with the non-conference win. Nazareth dropped to 5-3 overall.

Cortland's senior attackman Ryan Heath amassed 10 points on five goals and five assists to pace the Red Dragons, who scored five times in the first quarter and added the first four goals in the second quarter to build a commanding advantage.

Heath scored twice in the opening period and once more in the second as Cortland led 10-2 at the break. Aaron Civalier and Corey Remoli scored in the second quarter for Nazareth.

Cortland quickly erased any second-half comeback hopes for the Golden Flyers by scoring the first six goals of the third quarter to stretch the lead to 16-2. Heath added his fourth and fifth goals of the game and sophomore Brandon Misiaszek also scored twice for Cortland.

Nazareth scored its three remaining goals in the third period. Civalier scored his second goal of the game and team-leading 18th of the season. Sophomore attackman Erinn O'Hara had a goal off an assist from long-stick Kyle Brown and Steve Cutia added an unassisted score.

In addition to Heath and Misiaszek, Billy Fuchs, Adam Hyde, Joey Morgan and Chris Dutkowsky each scored twice. Fuchs also had two assists.

Cortland had a 43-31 edge in shots and won 18 of 29 face-offs. Senior Anthony Desimone played all 60 minutes in goal and made 12 saves for the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth resumes its Empire 8 Conference schedule with a road game at Ithaca Saturday at 1 p.m.
