CUMULATIVE STATSROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Taryn Bilodeau (McGraw, NY) and freshman Erica Conte (Caledonia-Mumford) each scored two goals for Nazareth College Wednesday as the Golden Flyers defeated visiting St. John Fisher in women's soccer, 6-1, at Golden Flyer Stadium.
Nazareth remained unbeaten in Empire 8 Conference action at 4-0. The Golden Flyers are 7-2 overall. Fisher fell to 0-1 in conference games and 1-5-1 overall.
The Golden Flyers dominated the action by scoring three times in each half. Nazareth had a 23-6 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Bilodeau scored the first two goals of the game. The first was unassisted at 7:34 as she redirected a rebound off a shot by teammate Kelly Finn. In the 28th minute, she scored again as she deflected in a crossing pass from junior Rachel Cushman (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY). Senior Shannon Burns (Colonie HS/Albany, NY) scored Nazareth's third goal in the 39th minute off an assist from freshman Rachel Piemonte (Williamsville East HS/East Amherst, NY).
St. John Fisher trimmed Nazareth's lead to 3-1 early in the second half as junior Kelly Zeppetella (Greece Olympia HS/Rochester, NY) connected on a high, lofting shot from about 30 yards out that eluded Nazareth keeper Hillary Simon (Homer HS/Homer, NY).
Conte scored Nazareth's next two goals. The first one came off a pass from Piemonte in the 74th minute, then the second was unassisted after Fisher goalie Ashley Martin stopped an initial scoring attempt by Piemonte.
Senior Caroline Parsons (Glens Falls HS/Glens Falls, NY) scored Nazareth's sixth goal with less than seven minutes left.
Simon played all 90 minutes in goal for Nazareth and made two saves. Martin had eight saves for the Cardinals.
Nazareth plays again Saturday at St. Lawrence in a non-conference game at 2 p.m.
