Geneseo blanks Nazareth, 3-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Geneseo scored once in the first half and twice in the second Saturday in a 3-0 men's soccer victory over Nazareth in the second day of the Doug May Memorial Classic at Golden Flyer Stadium.

Geneseo improved to 2-0. Nazareth, ranked 11th nationally, is 1-1.

Ryan Stansfield (Wantagh, NY) scored the only goal the Blue Knights needed as he deflected in a crossing pass from Judah Manetta (Rochester, NY) in the 27th minute.

Kurt Jameson (Pittsford, NY) and Matt Robinson (Rochester, NY) added insurance goals in the second half.

Geneseo had a 16-7 shot advantage and got five saves from junior goalie Jeremy Reeves (Palmyra, NY), who recorded the shutout. Sophomore Trey Barresi (Lansing, NY) made five saves for Nazareth.

Nazareth played the weekend tournament without All-American sweeper Mohammed Ahamed (Bronx, NY), who will be sidelined for the season with a knee injury.

Nazareth's next game is Saturday, Sept. 8 at home against Oswego at 12 p.m.
